MBC strikes WB output deal

Leading pan Arabian broadcaster Middle East Broadcasting Centre (MBC) has renewed its output deal with Hollywood studio Warner Bros International Television Distribution giving the network hit US series including The Mentalist and Fringe.

The three year deal will allow MBC to air Warner Bros series including Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles via free-to-air television for the first time and shows will run concurrently with the US. It will also include series debuted at next month’s LA Screenings event.

This agreement also extends MBC’s movie output arrangement with the international distribution arm of the studio.

MBC, which is owned by Sheikh Walled Bin Ibrahim Al Ibrahim, the brother of late Saudi ruler King Fahd, runs a bouquet of six free-to-air channels across the region. It also has program deals with NBC Universal, CBS Paramount and recently struck a deal with distributor FremantleMedia Enterprises for a collection of titles including Merlin.
