New shows head for Home on new UK pay TV channel

UKTV has acquired a raft of new titles for its soon-to-launch lifestyle channel Home. The UK pay TV channel has bought in over 170 hours of lifestyle fare ahead of its launch on April 30.

UKTV has rebranded a host of channels in recent times and Home is the new brand for UKTV Style. With a tag line of ‘there’s no place like home’ it will feature programs based on home improvement, house moves and gardening and will have supporting website lovehome.com.

Acquisitions manager Alexandra Finlay and acquisitions executive Nicki McDermott have picked up a range of new series for the channel. These include seasons six and seven of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Love it or List it, which air on ABC and W Network respectively in the US and are distributed by Endemol and Big Coat.

It has also acquired Irish series Room to Improve, which airs on free-to-air broadcaster RTE in Ireland and three series of Lion TV produced, All3 Media distributed Homes under the Hammer.

UKTV is a joint venture between BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the UK public broadcaster, and Virgin Media, the UK cabler.
