MTV International has launched MTV Impact, an events division that will design and run a range of musical festivals and other activities.
Operated by the company’s emerging markets division, the first event will be an outdoor music festival in Gdansk, Poland, this July, which is expected to be attended by 20,000 people.
The new division will be run by Neil Sharma. Previously MTV Networks’ New York-based senior director of emerging technologies and ad sales, Sharma will be run Impact from MTV’s London offices.
Sharma reports to Bhavneet Singh, managing director and executive VP of MTVNI’s Emerging Markets division.
