Disney appoints Lerner as Euro boss

Disney has appointed president of Disney Latin America, Diego Lerner as president, The Walt Disney Company, Europe, Middle East and Africa. The appointment comes as Disney restructures its European division.

Lerner will be in charge of all of Disney’s businesses in the regions except Disneyland Paris and ESPN, which have different ownership structures.

The change follows the departure of Disney ABC ESPN Television managing director, EMEA and Canada Tom Toumazis, who was replaced earlier this year by former Abbey Home Media executive Stephen Moore.

Lerner was in charge of Disney’s activities in Latin America where he expanded the company’s pay TV coverage and expanded its local content development. He was responsible for the launch of a local version of High School Musical – El Desafio as well as a number of Latin American and a US Hispanic version of Desperate Housewives.
