Fremantle strikes factual deal with Universum

FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has struck a deal with Universum and will take international rights to a clutch of its factual titles over the next two years.

Universum is the factual production division of Austrian public broadcaster ORF and FME will represent four of its documentaries a year over the course of the two-year deal.

It will have international rights outside the UK, North America and German-speaking Europe. It will also get first look at DVD rights for the shows in question.

It has announced the first three titles that it will take: From Freezer to Furnace, a 1x50mins doc about how humans and wildlife adapt to extreme climate conditions; Drakensberg (aka Dragon Mountain), a 1x50mins doc about the South African mountain range; and O Two, a 1x50mins CGI-heavy series following a molecule of oxygen.
