Fox’s BabyFirst to play in Germany

BabyFirst TV, the Fox-backed channel for toddlers, will launch in Germany within weeks. BabyFirst CEO and co-founder Guy Oranim told TBIvision that a deal has been struck with Unity Media and the channel will launch on German cable before the end of October

It will be carried in a new package of kids channels that Unity is launching. The channel has already secured carriage in France, Italy and the UK and has just launched in Spain, on Sogecable’s Digital+ DTH platform.

Further European deals are in the cards. Oranim said: “We expect to be in four additional European markets by the end of the year.”

BabyFirst is also extending the range of its production activities. It already produces all of the content for the BabyFirst channel but has inaugurated BFTV Productions, which will sell shows to third party broadcasters.

Oranim says it will make shows for the younger end of the preschool age range. Titles include 3x39mins Say Hello Around the World and 5x26mins The Greenies.
