The N nabs Viacom movie deal

Polish pay TV operator The N has inked a long term movie deal with Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks, wresting away pay TV rights from rival Cyfra+.

The move means that The N, which is owned by local media group ITI, will have exclusive access to movies from both Viacom owned companies from next year for five years from next year and should see it close the gap in terms of subscribers against Cyfra+ and eventually market leader Cyfrowy Polsat.

ITI Neovision president Maciej Sojka told TBIvision that it would launch a new movie channel next year to air Paramount and Dreamworks movies.

Paramount’s latest hits include Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder and Keira Knightley’s The Duchess .

The N also launched a number of new channels across its pay TV package. It revamped its kids suite with the launch of Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Hit Entertainment’s JimJam.

It also unveiled the launch of MTVNHD, MTV Networks new high definition channel, which will feature a range of concerts and music videos as well as a handful of studio shows produced in Poland, Latin America and Italy.
