France Televisions to centralize kids department

France Televisions is combining the kids programming departments from all three of its channels, France 2, France 3, and France 5, to better compete against growing competition.

The new entity will make all decisions on acquisitions, programming and co-productions. "In the coming year we are going to centralize everything into one company," Julien Borde, head of kids programing for France 3 told TBIvision. "It will mean more consistency across all channels and it is a way for us to modernize our strategy. It will be a clearer way to develop kids programming."

France Televisions is facing new competition from both pay TV and free to air broadcasters. There are now more than 20 pay TV channels dedicated to children’s programming in France.
