Sally Miles back with Passion

Sally Miles talks to TBIvision about her new distribution company, Passion.

Having left ID Distribution, the distribution company she founded, Sally Miles has now set up Passion and says she and her team will now set about building the new brand at a fast clip.

"People will get to know Passion and the brand very quickly," Miles says. "We’re already being seen as a serious player and we have to build momentum and run very fast."

Passion’s selling point, Miles says, is the fact it can offer producers a hands-on personal service: "People want the principal of the business involved in their [sales] business. That’s our core USP and how we differ from some bigger companies."

Miles says she maintains good relationships with key broadcasters, notably those in the US. Passion hopes to help UK producers trying to crack the US and US producers looking to take their formats and finished shows to international markets.

"Some larger companies are not interested if a producer wants to get into production in the US," says Miles. "The won’t go there and champion your cause."

An unnamed private investor has ploughed $2 million into Passion, but, unlike at ID, Miles will retain control. She has already taken several ID staff to Passion and says there are a couple of sales roles still to fill.

Passion will cut first-look deals with producers and has US/UK indie World of Wonder on board as its first client. Passion will be at MIP and MIPCOM, operating from a café as ID did under Miles.
