Ratings Watch: The Secret Millionaire

US network Fox has just greenlit a local version of UK format The Secret Millionaire and the RDF produced and distributed format has got off to a good start in Denmark on TV2.

In the show a millionaire spends ten days living undercover, searching for people whose lives he or she can change for the better. The millionaire then reveals their true identity and gives money to deserving causes that have been highlighted in the show.

On March 18, the first episode of the Danish adaptation, Den Hemmelige Millionaer, won a very good 42% audience share in the 3+ demographic, leading its time slot. The second episode was down to a 35% audience share in the 3+, finishing second in its time slot. Across six episodes the show averaged a 36.5% share.

In 2007, TV2 averaged a 33.6% audience share in the 3+.

In the UK the show bowed on Channel 4 in November 2006. The first episode generated a decent 9% share in the 4+. On Wednesday, December 6, the second episode was up to a 12.1% share in the 4+. The third episode garnered an impressive 15.4% share and a second place in its timeslot.

A second series started in November 2007. Across five episodes the show averaged an 11.5% share. A third series has been announced for 2008.

In 2007, Channel 4 averaged an 8.6% audience share in the 4+.
