Media company Galleon Entertainment has inked a deal with RDF Media and is representing selected formats from the UK producer and distributor in the Chinese market.
UK based Galleon has a recently coproduced interactive soccer format Super Soccer Star with Chinese broadcaster Guangdong TV Sports Channel. It executed that deal via Phoenix, the Hong Kong-based interactive TV company that it acquired last October.
It is now talking to Chinese broadcasters about making local versions of selected RDF formats. Galleon management would not say which shows are being talked about, but it is known that singing, dancing and family-skewed entertainment formats are very popular in the country.
Meanwhile, Galleon is hoping to make more local versions of Super Soccer Star in Asia. The original thirteen episode series began airing in the southern Chinese region of Guangdong last week. A link up with Chelsea Football Club means that the winner of the competition will join the Chelsea training academy this summer.
Galleon is talking about other local versions of the show, possibly in India, Indonesia and/or Malaysia.
