KidsCo says it will be in 40 territories by end-2008

KidsCo, the children’s channel backed by NBC, will be carried in 40 countries by end-2008, Paul Robinson, managing director, worldwide, at the company told TBIvision. It will also announce new long term content deals with third party producers within weeks.

The channel, which launched in April 2007 and recently bowed in Asia, is currently on air in twelve territories. Robinson said that the new launches would include the UK, although would not specify which platform would carry the channel.

KidsCo gets a large chunk of its content from shareholders DIC and Nelvana, but also wants to boost the roster of third-party suppliers.

There are currently nine non-shareholding content providers and two more are expected to sign programming agreements within weeks. Robinson says he ultimately wants about fifteen third party programme makers on board.
