Microsoft to launch original Xbox content

Microsoft is launching a series of original scripted programmes for its games console Xbox360 after it inked a deal with production outfit Safran Company.

Safran, which is run by Hollywood producer and ex-Brillstein-Grey Entertainment president Peter Safran, will develop and produce a number of series exclusively for the console.

While shows from Disney, Warner Bros and the Sundance Channel can be bought through the Xbox360, using its online service, this will be the first time original content has been produced for a games console.

Shows will be primarily comedy and horror led, male skewing and will be around 10 minutes in length.

Safran currently represents Scary Movie writers Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer as well as Sean ‘Puff Daddy’ Combs.
