Poland’s TVN launches local Cold Feet

Polish commercial broadcaster TVN is set to launch a local version of UK drama Cold Feet after it inked a deal with distributor Granada International.

The broadcaster hopes that this move can help it retain its ratings lead against commercial rival Polsat. TVN, which is owned by the ITI Group, lost its position as the country’s leading broadcaster by audience share at the end of last year and hopes that a combination of local production and international series can improve its fortunes.

TVN has also acquired the full series of the successful ITV drama, which was created by Mike Bullen and followed the lives of a group of late thirtysomethings – including James Nesbitt and Helen Baxendale – as they dealt with everyday life.

The deal was negotiated by Dorit Schilling, senior sales executive at Granada International, and Dariusz Gasiorowski, director of TVN’s drama production unit.
