Strike relations hit a new low

The two sides in the ongoing Hollywood writers strike are further apart than ever as the war of words continues.

The organisation representing the studios, the AMPTP, last night issued a barbed response to an earlier WGA missive, as relations hit a new low.

In a note to member companies the AMPTP said. "By now you know that those in charge at the WGA have injected substantial new doses of vitriol into the important and continuing debate on our industry’s future."

The AMPTP was particularly irked by a WGA East letter to members that said of its strike adversaries: "They lie. And then they lie again. And then they lie some more."

Talks between the two sides broke down last Friday and the strike is now in its sixth week. Meanwhile, the WGA has issued a script waiver so that the Screen Actors Guild Awards show can go ahead.
