Xilam readies 2nd season of award winning Shuriken School

Xilam, the French animation outfit, is working on a second season of Japanese ninja series Shuriken School after the show was named 2007’s best selling French export by industry association TV France International.

The 26x26mins animated show, which has been sold to broadcasters such as Nicktoons in the US and Jetix Europe, was awarded the Grand Prix award.

Marc du Pontavice, president of Xilam, told TBIvision that he was very proud as it was a big deal in the French television world. Following the launch of a 75minute animated special, it is looking to secure funding for a second season.

Xilam has also found similar success with animated comedy A Kind Of Magic. It has inked a deal with German broadcaster Super RTL. This follows pre-sales from broadcasters including the Disney Channel (excluding US and UK), Italy’s Mediaset and Australia’s ABC. The show is currently in production.

Pontavice says that it also has plans for three series next year.

"We have three shows in development and in 2008 we hope to start production on a couple of them," he added.
