Dani’s Castle

Dani’s Castle is the latest series fronted by kids TV starlet Dani Harmer. Having come to kids attention as Tracey Beaker, the actress had further success with Dani’s House.

As former controller of BBC Childrens, Nigel Pickard commissioned the The Story of Tracey Beaker series a decade ago.

Now as, chief executive officer, Zodiak M.E.E.A. and UK Kids & Family, his part of the super indie is producing and distributing Dani’s Castle.

The show is made by Zodiak-owned The Foundation and sold by Zodiak Rights.

“It’s an extension of Dani’s House and has some of the same cast as her friends,” explains Pickard. “Dani’s Castle is a fish out of water story as she takes on the elements of owning her own place, she grows up and is interested in a castle in Northern Ireland, which is clearly haunted and we see Dani deal with that and also fall in love with Gabriel, one of the ghosts.”

Pickard adds: “Dani is the biggest female star on CBBC and has a loyal audience that has grown up with her. When she started she was 11 years old and is now 22 and here we see her being totally independent.”

There is also an established roster of international buyers for Harmer’s shows.

Dani’s House sold to broadcasters including ABC (Australia), RTE (Ireland), Canal Once (Mexico), TV3 Catalunya, RTP (Portugal), Canal+ (Poland), Raisat (Italy) and Channel 2 (Kuwait). Zodiak launched the new series at MIPJunior.
