Xilam’s du Pontavice develops Joan of Arc drama

Scripted-logo-460_2MdPontavice_03_HDAnimation producer Marc du Pontavice is working with French prodco Federation Entertainment on a high-end drama about Joan of Arc.

Du Pontavice (pictured) is best known for running Oggy and the Cockroaches animation house Xilam, but has owned a drama company, One World Films, since 2006.

His involvement in the Joan of Arc drama is through this business. He has previously produced international scripted series such as Highlander and feature films such as Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life and War of the Buttons.

Writer-director Alix de Maistre (Pour un Fils) and writer-historian Xavier Kawa-Topor co-scripted the drama, which is currently unnamed and in development. The pair first worked together on 2002 film La Peste.

The series will follow Joan of Arc, as she develops into an iconic French revolutionary in the 15th Century, and in particular her relationship with prince-in-exile Charles.

Paris-based Federation will sell the series internationally, while One World has another two drama series in development.
