BT/AMC snatch Rupert Grint crime caper for UK

Scripted-logo-460_2Snatch TV SeriesThe Rupert Grint television remake of crime caper Snatch is headed exclusively for BT-distributed network AMC in the UK.

The ten-episode original drama debuted recently on Sony Pictures Television (SPT)’s VOD service, Crackle, and is now headed for the UK.

It will launch there on October 31 in a 10pm slot on the BT pay TV service, which exclusively offers AMC in the UK. BT TV customers will also be able to access it on-demand after its linear premiere.

The deal is one of the largest AMC and BT have secured since the former launched in the UK with The Walking Dead spin-off Fear the Walking Dead. It also offers Better Call Saul, Halt and Catch Fire and The Son.

The service is under pressure from SVOD services Amazon and Netflix, as well as pay-TV rivals Sky and Virgin Media, both of which are spending big bucks on original and exclusive content.

Snatch, from SPT, stars Grint (Harry Potter) and is inspired by the Guy Ritchie crime caper movie of the same name from 2000, which stars Brad Pitt.

It follows a group of young, up-and-coming hustlers who stumble upon a truckload of stolen gold bullion and soon find London’s underworld coming after them.
