The Rock creates digital studio with Studio71

Actor and wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has formed a YouTube channel venture with ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s multichannel networks business.

Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions and Studio71 have teamed up to create Seven Bucks Digital Studios, which will debut its YouTube channel this summer.

Seven Bucks Digital Studios will include spotlight on Seven Bucks Productions’ projects, which in the past have included reality series The Hero, plus projects with other creators “who share his work ethic and drive to inspire, motivate and entertain”.

There will be monthly collaborations with “top digital native talent as well as an action-filled scripted online series”.

Johnson has a massive social media following of more than 100 million followers across platforms. “Other than my family, social media is my strongest relationship and it’s allowed me to connect on a very direct and personal level with fans globally,” he said.

Johnson runs Seven Bucks with manager, production partner and former wife Dany Garcia, who said: “The launch of this channel and the collaboration with Studio71 only strengthens our ability to provide the greatest level of entertainment to our consumers on all media platforms,” added Garcia.

Studio71 came into being in January, when it rebranded Collective Digital Studio, which had been formed through the acquisition of an LA MCN business. The Studio71 brand had been used as ProSieben’s initial MCN brand before initially being dropped in favour of the Collective Digital brand.
