FunBox 4K channel expands reach

Pay TV channel provider SPI International has launched its FunBox 4K UHD channel on Vodafone Portugal’s platform.

According to SPI International, Vodafone has already made a selected amount of content from FunBox 4K available on its TV Net Voz platform. The programming offer will gradually increase over the next few months to feature a wide variety of UHD content including documentaries and sports and music programming.

In addition to wildlife documentaries, some of the eye-popping content on the channel will present the San Francisco skyline, Ultra HD footage of Asian cities by night and various outstanding documentary series, covering regions and places all around the world, such as the Himalayas, Cappadocia or Barcelona.

Europe-based SPI is also planning to add sports programming and musical events to the channel’s line-up.

The channel will be made available free of charge to Vodafone Portugal fibre customers.

“We keep improving the quality of our image and as of today, Vodafone Portugal will distribute a 4K TV channel to its subscribers allowing them to have an amazing TV experience,” said Vodafone Portugal.

“SPI is focusing on making as much native 4K content as possible available via this channel, and we are only showing those programs that have a high production value and can deliver outstanding visual highlights for the viewers. This will help FunBox 4K UHD and Vodafone to present the best possible ultra-high definition images and an experience that can’t be achieved by services that rely on unmanaged distribution over the open Internet,” said Berk Uziyel, executive director, FilmBox/SPI International.
