David Lynch back on board Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks director David Lynch has rejoined Showtime’s 2015-16 season remake of the classic mystery drama.

Twin PeaksFans of the original were left disappointed in April after Lynch decided to walk away from the show after a prolonged period of contract negotiations with CBS-owned Showtime. The director specifically stated the network was not putting up enough cash for the production.

Those fans can now breath a sigh of relief after Lynch confirmed his return via Twitter.

Further to that, the series will run to more episodes than the previously stated nine.

“This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever,” said Showtime president David Nevins. “Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected.

“David will direct the whole thing, which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Pre-production starts now!”

The original Twin Peaks ran for two seasons in the early 1990s on ABC. The new show is set to launch next year, 25 years after the show came its first conclusion.
