Asian MCN teams with Dailymotion

Asia’s biggest multichannel network, WebTVAsia, has signed a long-term distribution and coproduction deal with French video site Dailymotion.

The multi-year partnership will see the platforms working together on a 100-channel roll-out and exclusive coproductions for the Asian market.

“Dailymotion is the leading video platform globally and WebTVAsia is privileged to work with first of many European partners to penetrate the exciting Asian market,” said WebTVAsia group CEO Fred Chong.

WebTVAsia’s largest works include producing music videos of Chinese hit song Little Apple for local Asian territories, and taking Chinese web comedy Unexpected to nought to 130,000 subscribers in six months.

Its YouTube MCN averages 150 million views monthly, and has three million subs.

Dailymotion, meanwhile, is in the subject €217 million (US$229 million) offer from Vivendi for 80% of Orange’s stake in the business.
