Lifetime deal for Julia Stiles’ Blue

blue_scn02-ep18_0041A+E Networks UK has acquired digital-to-TV drama series Blue for its Lifetime channels in the UK and Africa.

Blue follows Julia Stiles (The Bourne Identity) as an accountant who is forced to work as an escort to make ends meet.

The series started out as a short-form project on female-skewed digital platform Wigs, which produced it. It was then packaged into a regular TV series, which is distributed internationally by FremantleMedia International.

Jamie Lynn, executive VP of sales and distribution, EMEA, for FremantleMedia International added: “Blue is a distinctive series that features A-list Hollywood talent in front of the camera and a wealth of Hollywood heavyweights behind. We are thrilled that Lifetime is bringing this first-rate show to UK audiences.”

The series will debut on Lifetime in the UK this spring.

Fox-backed Wigs is the digital business founded by filmmakers and producers Jon and Jake Avnet and Rodrigo Garcia. It works with its affiliate Indigenous Media, a digital production group from the Avnets and Garcia, which ITV and WPP acquired last year.
