SVT programming boss departs

Martin Österdahl is exiting his post as programming director of SVT after a short spell in the role.

Österdahl replaced Annie Wegelius in the role on 2013, but is now leaving the Swedish pubcaster with no job to go to.

An acting programming director will be appointed as SVT finds a new programming boss.

SVT CEO Eva Hamilton, who is soon to retire, said Österdahl had “greatly contributed” to the pubcaster, and pointed to a recent deal to secure winter sports for SVT as evidence.

Österdahl has worked for SVT for more than six years. He told Dagens Media he expects to continue working in television, as he had “over 20 years experience. It would be foolish to throw it away and start working on airplanes or something”.
