Hindi film icon to discuss factual’s future at MIPCOM

Hindi film superstar Aamir Khan will appear at the inaugural MIPCOM ‘MegaSession’, titled ‘The Future of Factual’.

The actor-turned-director is scheduled to appear the event on Tuesday, October 14 as part of group of leading content players discussing the next generation of online and broadcast factual programmes.

The main stage of the Grand Auditorium at the Palais in Cannes will play host to Khan, who has starred in dozens of Bollywood films and was nominated for a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.

Khan launched a talk show, Satyamev Jayate (Truth Alone Prevails) in May 2012 on India’s Star channels and the Doordashian Network. The series has discussed and investigated major issues in Indian society such as female foeticide, rape, child sexual abuse, dowry customs and honour killings and had a major impact as a result.

The show has reached around 700 million viewers in India, and has a massive social media following.

At MIPCOM, he will be in conversation with lauded doc director Morgan Spurlock, discussing what drove him to produce the show, why it has resonated in India and whether the format is ripe for other countries.

Khan is the latest speaker announced for the October confab. The X Factor’s Simon Cowell, 21st Century Fox’s James Murdoch, CBS’s Armando Nunez and David Stapf, and Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos are already on the bill.
