FremantleMedia renews deal with Ash Atalla indie

The distribution arm of FremantleMedia International has extended its first-look deal with UK indie Roughcut Television.

Under the terms of the new two-year agreement, FremantleMedia International and Roughcut will co-develop content and FMI will sell it international markets.

Roughcut was founded by Ash Atalla (The Office) and makes UK scripted and fact-ent series including Trollied, World’s Craziest Fools and Cuckoo.

It recently piloted The Totally Senseless Gameshow, a gameshow that highlights disability issues, for BBC Three.

Atalla said: “FremantleMedia are like the clever and popular mate you never had at school. They speak loads of languages, know the right people all over the world and give you the best advice. I wish I’d met FremantleMedia when I was 15, but this will have to do.”

Bob McCourt, acting CEO, FMI, said: “Roughcut TV produces some of the best-known comedies in the UK and they work perfectly for FremantleMedia International’s audiences.”
