Discovery preps Mexican-US sex trade doc

Discovery has greenlit two original Spanish-language doc for its US Hispanic net Discovery en Español.

Trata de Mujeres: De Tenancingo a Nueva York (Trafficking in Women: Tenancingo to New York) will tell the story of the growing people trafficking and sex trade between Mexico and the US.

In the doc, the filmmakers trace the journey thousands of young Mexican women are forced to take from their country to the US, where they are forced into the sex trade. It will have interviews with pimps, prostitutes and law enforcement officials.

Huesos Que Hablan (Talking Bones), meanwhile, will go inside a Mexican forensic crime lab and focus on crimes involving women.

Both projects were developed by Discovery en Español with local production company Pacha Films. They will go out on Discovery’s US Hispanic Spanish language network in early and mid December as part of its current affairs and behind the headlines strand Discovery A Fondo.
