Asian entrepreneur series to launch in France

Asian start-ups reality format Angel’s Gate will be remade in France via commercial broadcaster TF1’s online TV unit.

e-TF1 has acquired local format rights from Singapore-based Bomanbridge Media and creator Interactive SG. It will work on a remake and transmedia tie-ins, including a crowd funding element.

The distributors claim the global economic recession has lead to significant interest in the format, which first launched as a pan-Asian on ChannelNews Asia, has been dubbed ‘The X Factor for start-ups’. The format sees budding entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to panel of judges in order to win financial backing and mentoring.

Ash Singh, Interactive’s founder and CEO, created the format in 2007.

He said: “Angel’s Gate was created to be the best launchpad for business ideas by providing audiences more meaningful moments of engagement across multiple platforms. I look forward to the positive social and economic impact Angel’s Gate will have on the start up community in France.”
