Global Eagle, the investment firm created by media veterans Harry Sloan and Jeff Sagansky, has completed its biggest deal to date and has rebranded.
The company’s acquisition of in-flight content businesses Row 44 and Frankfurt-listed Advanced Inflight Alliance (AIA) has been completed. The US$400 million deal was first announced last November.
“This unique business combination puts Global Eagle Entertainment at the forefront of a rapidly expanding industry sector, providing both connectivity and diverse content for airline passengers worldwide,” said Ed Shapiro, chairman of the boards of Row 44 and AIA and chairman-designate of Global Eagle.
Following the deal, Sloan and Sagansky’s company has been rebranded Global Entertainment.
