Banijay and Eyeworks announce new deals for diving shows

Banijay and Eyeworks have both sealed new deals for their respective diving formats Stars in Danger: High Diving and Celebrity Splash.

Banijay International has inked a deal with Ambra Multimedia and the Italian producer will make a local version of Stars in Danger: High Diving (pictured) for Mediaset. Which of Mediaset’s Italian channels will air the show was not announced.

The Italian version of the show will run to four parts and be called Stasera Mi Tuffo (Tonight I’m Gonna Dive).

Eyeworks, meanwhile, has inked a deal  for Celebrity Splash with Zhejiang TV (ZJTV). The deal with the Chinese broadcaster marks the first sale of the format in Asia. ZJTV will produce 13 episodes in 2013 to air in primetime.

Banijay and Eyeworks are still locked in a legal dispute with Banijay alleging the Eyeworks’ format has taken elements of its show. Eyeworks strenuously denies the charge.

Meanwhile, both companies continue to enjoy success selling the shows around, making diving-based reality shows a hot category in the formats world.

Banijay has sold its format to US network Fox, V in Canada, Jiangsu Satellite TV in China, TV2 in Norway and TV3 in Sweden.

Eyeworks has shopped its show to broadcasters including US network ABC, ITV in the UK, Telefe in Argentina, Seven Network in Australia and TF1 in France.
