Nat Geo boards France Télévisions’ war doc

National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) has come on board four part documentary series Apocalypse: World War One after striking a deal with France Télévisions Distribution.

The international broadcaster has acquired all television rights to the series excluding France, Canada and the US.

The series was commissioned by France Télévisions and will launch in 2014. It is based entirely on archive footage of the war.

“Both Apocalypse: The Second World War and Apocalypse: The Rise of Hitler were innovative and provocative productions for National Geographic Channel, giving viewers an unprecedented sense of the realities of war not conveyed by typical black and white imagery,” said Hamish Mykura, EVP and head of international content for NGCI.

“We are honoured to partner with National Geographic Channels International, which will introduce the worldwide premiere of the newest addition to the Apocalypse documentary series worldwide,” added Geraint Marsch and Eric Vernière from France Télévisions Distribution.
