Raft of deals for Prisoners of War, the drama that inspired Homeland

Keshet International has sold the scripted format rights to Prisoners of War, the drama that was the basis for Homeland, to Weit Media, which will make a local Russian version of the format.

The programme sales arm of Israeli broadcaster has also sold the original Israeli version of the drama, Prisoners of War, to SBS.

The Australian public broadcaster has acquired seasons one and two of the show.

Finland’s public broadcaster YLE has also acquired the drama and will air a subtitled version next year.

Arte has also acquired the rights to the finished show for Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

Russian producer Weit has inked a deal with an unnamed Russian broadcaster for a local version of the show.

The second season of the original prisoner of war drama will debut on Keshet Channel 2 next month. The second season of the US remake, Homeland, will premiere on US cable network Showtime on September 30.

The original Israeli show has already been transmitted on Sky Arts in the UK and is also carried on streaming service Hulu in the US.
