The Emerald Isle’s digital top ten highlights the anticipation of upcoming seasons of hit shows Stranger Things, The Grand Tour and The Man in the High Castle (MITHC), which came third, sixth and tenth on the list respectively.
There’s been some buzz about Stranger Things since its season two trailer was released on July 22, explaining its high position on the chart. MITHC also announced its return with a third season in July.
Both MITHC and Grand Tour are due to return in 2018.
Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale reigned supreme as the most popular digital series in the territory followed by Netflix’s Ozark, which a new crime drama with Jason Bateman playing a finance manager in business with the wrong people.
Ireland’s digital list shows a varied mixture of shows from Hulu, Amazon Video and Netflix, breaking up the usual domination of hit shows coming from Netflix in the digital genre.
On the overall chart, a mixture of new and returning series dominate in Ireland.
Unsurprisingly, Game Of Thrones leads the chart. The series features almost three times the demand of the runner up Love Island, generating 1,508,259 demand expressions compared to 478,130 for the dating show.
Despite this, the June launch of Love Island’s new series had 13% more demand than AMC’s The Walking Dead, which came in third place.
The Walking Dead and Suits all featured as returning favourites on the list coming in third, ninth and tenth place. Newer series American Gods, The Handmaid’s Tale and Ozark all made an in impression in the area coming in fourth, fifth and seventh place.
Drama series newcomers Preacher, featuring Mamma Mia star Dominic Cooper, and Power also made an impact coming in sixth and eighth on the list.
