MIPTV2014: Lituchy’s NMV on scripted format drive in Cannes

Todd Lituchy’s content company New Media Vision will be on a scripted format drive at MIPTV, having already successfully shopped one if its Spanish dramas into the US.

The Mysteries of Laura was bought by Warner Bros., which is making a US pilot starring Will & Grace star Debra Messing for broadcast net NBC. Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment are also attached.

The original Spanish version of the show, Los Misterios de Laura, was made by Spanish prodco Boomerang for pubcaster TVE. It follows the life and work of a female homicide cop. NMV handles format sales and struck the US deal.

NMV will be shopping the format at MIPTV as well as several other scripted projects from various international markets.

From Singapore it has MediaCorp’s Point of Entry, about an elite force of agents fighting to keep border’s safe. It follows the law enforcers as well as plight of the people attempting to illegally enter the country. It stretches to four seasons in Singapore.

Another MediaCorp drama format from NMV for MIPTV is paranormal horror series Incredible Tales. Running to seven seasons, the original show has scary stories from around the world. From South Korea, NMV has CJ E&M’s The Virus, about a special unit tasked with stopping the spread of a deadly virus.

From Belgium, NMV is launching Deadline 14/10, about a young reporter who stumbles upon a political mystery while investigating the disappearance of a young girl. The original was made by Menuet Productions for VTM. Also from Europe there is Nordisk Film’s Happiness, about life and love in an upper class neighbourhood. The original went out on TV3 in Denmark.
