Talpa Media ups Meijs to COO

Talpa Media has upped Talpa Global’s managing director Maarten Meijs to COO.

In his new role, Meijs will be the first to lead in the daily operations with ITV Studios and its associated companies. Talpa Media was acquired by ITV in 2015.

Furthermore, Meijs will be responsible for strengthening the operational connection between the various components within the group, from creation, production and digital, to the commercialisation of its content.

Meijs has been working at Talpa Media in various roles since 2009. In addition to his new role, he will continue to keep his current responsibilities within Talpa Global where he is responsible for the global rollout and commercialisation of TV formats and digital concepts.

The exec will also retain responsibility for Talpa’s international offices that include Talpa North America, Talpa Middle East and Talpa Germany.

With the addition of Meijs, the Talpa Media Board now consists of four members: Pim Schmitz (CEO), Shashi Baboeram Panday (CFO) and Barry Masclee (CCO).

Schmitz said: “Throughout the years, our global footprint has grown substantially and we have transformed the company in a full-service media content company. Maarten has played a pivotal role in establishing this international growth, as well as setting the strategic agenda in a complex media landscape.

“He is therefore optimally positioned to build a closer connection between our companies and a closer partnership with our mother company, ITV, and to drive innovation and lead our full funnel philosophy from the Netherlands to the global market place.”
