Network Ten appoints Beverley McGarvey as chief programming officer

Australian commercial broadcaster Network Ten has appointed Beverley McGarvey as chief programming officer following the departure of David Mott earlier this year.

Mott left the company in August and McGarvey had taken on the role in the interim before being given it permanently. The move ends months of speculation over who would replace Mott; other candidates mentioned including Seven’s director of social media and strategy Adam Boland and Graeme Hill, programming director at Seven Melbourne.

McGarvey has been with the network for the past six years and joined from TV3 New Zealand, where she was head of programming. Prior to that she had been head of scheduling and promotions for TV3 Ireland.

Ten CEO James Warburton said: “We are delighted to appoint Beverley to her new role. Beverley is an outstanding television executive. Her creativity, strategic thinking and programming and scheduling skills will be invaluable in the renewal of our creative content.”
