DirecTV adds BBC’s Uncle to slate

US cable operator DirecTV has acquired Uncle, the BBC Three comedy.

The show will go out on DirecTV’s Audience Network on Wednesdays from October 14 following a deal with BBC Worldwide North America.

The acquisition comes after DirecTV unveiled its first original comedy series, Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight.

“We recently announced our first foray into producing an original comedy series and we think Uncle will wonderfully complement our inaugural effort,” said Chris Long, DirecTV’s senior VP, original content and programming.

BBCWW North America’s manager, scripted sales Chelsea Hassler, DirecTV.

Uncle is another original, funny and at times excoriatingly awkward but ultimately warm comedy from Baby Cow,” said Matt Forde, executive VP, sales and coproductions BBCWW North America.
