MoMedia inks rugby deal with Pulse

MoMedia International, the Endemol-backed digital distributor, has inked a deal with UK indie producer Pulse Films to license the online and mobile rights to the British and Irish Lions’ South African Rugby Tour.

The company will license a package of rights including interviews with the players and behind the scenes content.

This comes on the heels of MoMedia announcing it has signed up to represent its 100th producer and distributor including live concert company Aeg Live and Target to sell its Finnish hit series The Dudesons.

Lucas Bertrand, CEO and co-founder, told TBIvision: “Sport is a great growth area. We’re on the hunt for more producers. We do a lot of extreme sports stuff and now we’re moving into the more traditional sports.”

He added that the company was eyeing deals with kids and drama producers. “Kids is very big; we’ve got deals with Hit and Littleloud and BKN and that’s a great growth area. We’re also aggressively building up our drama portfolio. There’s a number of smaller indies that we’ll be targeting,” he says.

MoMedia does the majority of its business selling TV content to digital platforms, particularly IPTV operators. “30% is based on volume deals where the customer can chop and change content so it’s kind of an output deal,” adds Bertrand. “In the digital space, it’s all about volume.”
