Shtruzman, Goldschein & Einbinder’s 5X Media eyes scripted TV expansion

LA-based 5X Media is expanding its TV activities by hiring a new SVP of scripted, who will join former Keshet International chief Alon Shtruzman and Bunim/Murray Productions’ ex-CEO Gil Goldschein at the company.

5X Media was unveiled last year by US producer Scott Einbinder (Killer Joe), who has been joined by partners Shtruzman and Goldschein at the LA- and Madrid-based production firm.

Shtruzman, who took up his co-CEO role in October, had headed up Israel’s Keshet International for more than a decade before departing at the end of 2022, having built the division into a major production-distribution entity.

He shepherded numerous scripted projects Stateside including Apple TV+ duo Suspicion (a remake of False Flag) and Echo3 (an adaptation of When Heroes Fly), as well as Disney+’s recent release A Small Light.

Goldschein departed Keeping Up With The Kardashians producer Bunim/Murray after 20 years in late 2020, having led the company since co-founder Jonathan Murray’s exit in 2015. He is co-CEO at 5X Media alongside Shtruzman, with Einbinder exec chairman.

5X Media, which describes itself as an international production, talent management and distribution firm, is also expanding across unscripted and has been quietly growing in recent months, with former NBCUniversal and Disney exec Michael Kaufman joining as a Madrid-based manager late last year.

It had already hired Seth Nagel and former Paradigm alum Michael Swidler to work across its management arm, with an SVP of scripted television now being sought. TBI understands Nagel has since left the company.

The role is based out of LA and includes responsibility for overseeing creative development and production of scripted shows, as well as negotiating deals and overseeing budgets.

5X Media was launched by Einbinder, a former co-CEO of Cristal Pictures, with backing from private equity and had projects including an English-language remake of Spain’s The Body on its launch slate.

This article has been updated since publication to reflect that Seth Nagel is no longer with 5X Media.
