BBC Worldwide will launch Luther, the new cop series from the team behind Spooks and featuring The Wire star Idris Elba, at its Showcase event, which takes place next week.

The series casts Elba as Luther, a troubled, philosophical cop on a crusade. The show is a BBC production. Director Sam Miller, Producer Katie Swinden and writer Neil Cross all worked on the hit Kudos-produced BBC spy series Spooks.

As well as Luther, Worldwide is launching a slew of new and returning drama at Showcase, which is held in the UK seaside town of Brighton.

Married Single Other is a relationship drama and Strike Back the story of two former soldiers who served in the Middle East. Popular, Worldwide-distributed, mutant teenager series Misfits will also be at Showcase for the first time.

Returning drama series include the fifth season of sci-fi show Doctor Who, the second season of Survivors and seasons 8 and 9 of Spooks.
