Viaplay orders first Danish original

MTG Studios has commissioned a Danish original drama named Pro’s and Con’s.

The series will premiere exclusively on MTG’s Nordic streaming service Viaplay in 2018, followed by its free-TV channel TV3.

Pro’s and Con’s tells the story of Erik (Lars Ranthe) and Nina (Lene Maria), a couple leading a quiet life in the Copenhagen suburbs while trying to hide a dark past as con artists.

The title is created and written by Thor Bjørn Krebs and Mikkel Serup. SAM Productions’ Stine Meldgaard and Morten Kjems Hytten Juhl will produce, with Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen serving as executive producer.

The production is supported by Danish Film Institutes’ Public Service Fund and Studiocanal handles international distribution.

Jakob Mejlhede, MTG executive VP and head of programming and content development, said: “Danish audiences love great drama – and Erik and Nina’s efforts to balance domestic life with one final grand con will have viewers everywhere hooked from the very first episode.

“Our objective is to be the Nordic region’s leading producer of original drama, and our slate of original series now covers unique storytelling from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the US.”

MTG’s drama series Veni Vidi Vici (pictured) will premiere on premium US streaming service Hulu in December 2017.
