The series is based on the book The Perfectionists, written by Sara Shepard, who also penned the New York Times bestselling book series Pretty Little Liars.
The book is set in the seemingly perfect town of Beacon Heights, where the stress of keeping up apperances leads to a murder.

A hit throughout the course of its seven seasons, Pretty Little Liars was ranked as cable TV’s number one drama across target 18-34 and 12-34 measures during its final season, according to Freeform.
The TV group also claims that the show revolutionised the relationship between TV and social media, and that it remains the most social TV series for 2016/17 season to date, with 266 million engagements.
It still accounts for the top six most tweeted scripted cable TV telecasts in the platform’s history, according to Freeform.
