Japandemonium coming to ITV

Formats-logo-460_2Danny_FentonUK broadcaster ITV has commissioned a funny clips show based on footage from iconic Japanese game shows.

Japandemonium is a 6x30mins series from UK-based indie Zig Zag Productions in which present Melvin Odoom showcases clips of “amazing and bizarre” programmes from Japanese television.

Danny Fenton and Andy Scott from Zig Zag are executive producing the show, which is set to air on ITV later this year after commissioning editor for comedy and entertainment Asif Zubairy ordered.

Zig Zag has extensive experience in Japanese television, for example twice working with Yoshimoto Kogyo on shows, including a prank-based game show called PrankStars last year.

The company also picked up rights to Japanese format Ultimate Brain, Which led to a CBBC remake.

In related news, ITV Entertainment, which is part of ITV America, has optioned Israeli format The Bubble, in which celebrities are isolated from all news sources for a week and then have to distinguish what is real and fake.

For Armoza, it’s a second piece of American business this month. It is also working with Fox on a remake of singing competition series The Final Four.
