The Bruce Lee Project is a co-development of Reeves’ Company Films, Bruce Lee Entertainment, Benaroya Pictures and Metan Global Entertainment Group.

Together, they have formed So You Think You Know Kung Fu (SYTYKKF), which developed and now handles the format.

The Bruce Lee Project is a 12x60mins (and 1x90mins finale) competition reality in which strong and spiritual men and women train together at The Bruce Lee Center to test their abilities. The winner receives individual and community prizes.

“Bruce Lee has a legacy of inspiration,” said Reeves, who is best known for movies such as Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and the Matrix trilogy. “It is exciting to see this legacy of inspiration have the opportunity to reach a new generation in The Bruce Lee Project,” comments Reeves.

SYTYKKF has global licensing and formats rights, and has already closed a deal in South Asia and the Middle East, with 8K Miles Media Group taking production and distribution rights in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Pre-production is expected to begin soon, with a first season set for 2018.

“We’re extremely proud to be involved with this groundbreaking series and launching it South Asia and Middle East,” said Metan CEO Larry Namer, who was the founding president of E! Entertainment Television. “The legacy of Bruce Lee continues to grow even 40 years after his death with many of today’s celebrities crediting his teachings and practices as their source of inspiration and learning.

“Who would have ever thought that reality shows could be positive and spread good vibes, while at the same time be dramatic and compelling? With The Bruce Lee Project, we have achieved that.”
