MTG’s Zoomin expands German operations

MTG-backed MCN Zoomin TV is expanding in Germany, appointing Cengiz Kurt its new country manager.

Jan RiemennsKurt is the former CEO of video marketing business Clipkit and brings a 13-strong team from that business to Zoomin.

Zoomin said today it wants to double revenues from Germany this year, working with traditional broadcasters in Germany including RTL and ProSieben.

The company targets the post-millennial ‘generation Z’ demo of youngsters born after 1990. It said it wants to establish itself as a true alternative to YouTube and Facebook in Germany.

It said it will sink €2 million (US$2.2 million) into its German initiative. Company founder Jan Riemens (pictured) said: “We are pleased to add Cengiz and his team members to the current Zoomin.TV Germany team.

“We strongly believe that together they have both the creativity and capability to drive the Generation Z strategy and grow our German operations.”

Kurt said: “Zoomin.TV has successfully changed its position from a pre-roll based content factory to a Generation Z-inspired video powerhouse with creative solutions for publishers, brands and agencies.

“They are one of the few who can execute this pivot since they always have produced content, which is the heart of Zoomin.TV.”

MTG bought into Zoomin in 2015, shelling out €44.9 million for a 51% stake in the business.
