MGM prepping action network with Sinclair

In the US, Sinclair Broadcast Group and Metro-Goldwyn Mayer are set to debut an action-focused 24/7 network feature thousands of hours of television series and movies.

Charge! is the second network Sinclair and MGM have launched together, following on from sci-fi multichannel network Comet.

The new channel will debut in the first quarter of this year, and is slated to reach more than 50% of the US by the end of Q2, with the live feed also being streamed via the internet. Complimentary apps are scheduled for later in 2017.

Charge! will offer more than 2,300 hours of television series content and more than 2,000 movie titles. TV content included MGM library series In the Heat of the Night and The Magnificent Seven, movies including Dances with Wolves and Platoon, and tentpole franchises Rocky and James Bond.

“MGM owns one of the deepest libraries of premium action-themed content in the world,” said Chris Ripley, president and CEO of Sinclair. “This is another example of the synergies and audience value that can be created when you seamlessly combine content and distribution, and we are excited to broaden our relationship with MGM to another vertical.”
