Former Arc exec joins Atomic Cartoons

Kids-logo-460_2Canadian studio Atomic Cartoons has hired Matthew Berkowitz as head of development.

The new recruit was most recently at Arc Productions, the Toronto-based studio that closed earlier this year amid financial difficulties before Jam Filled Entertainment acquired the assets at auction.

At Arc, Berkowitz oversaw the slate and worked with Arc customers and partners including Sony Animation, DreamWorks Animation, Amazon Studios, Lego and Zodiak Kids Studio.

At Atomic, the studio behind Netflix series Beat Bugs, he will run development and drive production and coproduction.

Prior to Arc, Berkowitz was at Film Roman, and Strike Entertainment.

“As we redefine our approach to development at Atomic, it’s important for us to have an executive who is a passionate, dynamic and respected industry leader, and for us that’s Matt,” said Atomic president Jennifer Twiner-McCarron.

Atomic is owned by Vancouver-based film and TV group Thunderbird Entertainment.
