Travel Channel hires ex-Discovery exec

US cable network Travel Channel has hired former Discovery Communications exec Anna Geddes as its director of programming.

She will in part replace Anna Garwood, who left her post as director of production and talent relations to join BSTV in January.

Geddes is best known as a showrunner for TLC shows such as Say Yes to the Dress and Bravo’s Newlyweds, but was also a director of programming at Discovery, where she launched series such as Naked & Afraid and American Guns.

She will be based in Knoxville, Tennessee, and report to senior VP, programming Courtney White.

Her role will see her manage development and production of series and specials for the Scripps Networks Interactive-owned cable channel.

Earlier this year, programming and development SVP Ross Babbit exited after four years at the network, while White joined in December last year.
