OTT launches for Celestial’s kids channel

Kids-logo-460_2Peet, The Forest DetectiveLionsgate and Saban-backed Asian channel operator Celestial Tiger Entertainment has launched its Miao Mi kids channel as a streaming service in Singapore.

The channel, which was launched by Celestial as a locally-programmed, Mandarin-language, alternative to the likes of Disney, Nickelodeon, and Turner, will now roll out on Toggle, the SVOD service operated by Singaporean TV giant Mediacorp.

Also in Singapore, the service will be carried on Cast, the new OTT service run by local telco Singtel.

“We are elated to introduce Miao Mi to Singapore with the full support from two prevalent OTT services backed by two Singaporean media powerhouses,” said Ofanny Choi, executive VP, TV Networks, Celestial Tiger Entertainment.

“Given the growing importance of Mandarin, and the desire of most parents to have their kids exposed to multiple languages, we believe Miao Mi offers great value for Singaporean families.”

The preschool channel is programmed with shows from China, Korea and Japan, and are all content is dubbed into Mandarin.

Shows on the channel include (pictured), from Korean broadcaster EBS and Peek-a-boo, from Japan’s public broadcaster NHK.

The channel has already launched in Indonesia.
